Game hangs during play

Today, while playing the latest version, the game froze completely after roughly 35 minutes (game time). This is not the first time it happens ; often, switching the display to another virtual terminal (eg. 1) then back to 7 (the one used by the X server) allows to game to resume, but not this time.


I had to kill (with signal 9) the process. Note that only WFTO is frozen, not the whole system.

Hi YS1, sorry for the slow reply.. your ticket seemingly managed to slip off the first page without anyone spotting it - sorry about that.


We don't really have any linux experts on the dev team but i'll pass this ticket through for them to take a look.


Apologies again that it took so long to get a reply.

I think it is an Unity issue, because when ever we got any crashes reported recently, then only after tabbing out and then it crashed on tabbing in or short time after.
Unity does for example not render the scene when there is no focus but does it again when focused.
I suspect there is something not working correctly recently.
However they just released version 5.4.2 which comes with a plenty resolution and rendering related bug fixes.
We will update to this version for next Patch and hope it will end this series of crashes.

The new Patch is now out for a week.
Did it improve the situation for you?

I will test this later as there is a self-imposed rule that I may not play computer games as long as there exist ungraded papers on my desktop (of which I currently have 48, and 47 new ones next Monday).

Hrm now we will get another patch soon.
Just let us know how it goes, but at some point we might close this ticket if there are no further reports that point out this issue would be still a thing.
